Dear District 23 Families and Staff,
Prospect Heights School District #23 is accepting applications to fill the vacancy resulting from the
resignation of Mr. Jim Bednar. The individual selected will serve on the Board of Education from the
date of appointment to May 2025. Board members provide the vision and oversight to support the
District’s mission to “Engage ALL students in experiences that inspire EACH to grow as learners,
individuals, and community members.”
Applicants for the Board vacancy must:
? Be a United States citizen
? Be at least 18 years of age
? Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately
preceding the appointment
? Be a registered voter
? Not be a child sex offender
? Not hold another incompatible public office
? Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
? Not be a school trustee
? Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment
Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and
responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of
interest, ethics, and gift ban. The Board’s policies are available at

Applications may be obtained at the Grodsky Administration Building, 700 N. Schoenbeck Rd.,
Prospect Heights, IL 60070, and at www.d23.org beginning on Friday, September 15, at 9:00 am.
Completed applications must be submitted by 3:00 pm on October 6, 2023, to Board President Kevin
