Anthony Wayne High School students enrolled in the Math Modeling and Reasoning course explore gear ratios thanks to a bicycle demonstration from John Hoag of CycleWerks in Whitehouse, OH. The new class is a pilot from the Ohio Department of Education that promotes reasoning, problem solving and modeling through real-world contexts and mathematical practices.
The course is designed to help students develop and apply math skills through exploration, explanation, communication and critical thinking. This is Anthony Wayne's first year in the program. Visit the Ohio Department of Education webpage for more information about the pilot.
