Parent Letter Dated for November 6th, 2020: Looking Forward to looking back

Dear Pelham Families,

One of our Board Members, David Wilkerson, shared this thought with me this week. He said, “I am looking forward to looking back on this time.” He knows how much grit our students, teachers, families and staff are showing. He expects we will look back with pride on efforts when at last, we beat this pandemic. I think he is right. Here are this week’s updates.

Sincerely,

Chip McGee

Pivot to Remote

To summarize our pivot plans:

  • Pelham Elementary School will return to in school instruction on Monday, Nov 16

  • Pelham Memorial School will return to in school instruction on Monday, Nov 16.

  • Pelham High School will return to in school instruction on Thursday Nov 12.

Also, keep these Reference Materials close at hand.

2nd Family Choice Survey for K - 8 Due Nov 12

The Family Choice Survey for Kindergarten through Grade 8 can be found in the Parent Portal. (Trouble accessing? See these instructions)  The survey is due back on Thursday, November 12.  If you do not reply to the survey, your child’s assignment will remain the same as it is now. Please note:

  • This survey is separate from the “pivot to remote” for Pelham Memorial School until November 16.

  • If we have many students switching from remote to in school or in school to remote, we would need to reassign students to different teachers to keep class sizes in balance.

  • Even with all of our planning, we may not be able to accommodate all requests due to safety and limitations of staff and other resources. I promise we will do our best.

Free Meals

Just as a reminder ALL remote students can still receive free meals by participating in the remote meal pick up program. Please contact Kelly Rambeau at [email protected] or 603-552-0322 with any questions or for information on how to sign up.

Feedback

Please take a moment to complete this feedback form. It is a way for us to get a snapshot of how we are doing as a district. The survey is for students, parents, staff and community members. I will use it to help guide our work. We look forward to hearing from you.

Assigned Seats on Buses

When school resumes, we will be switching to assigned seats to improve our ability to contact trace. Bus drivers will assign seats at the initial pickup when school resumes.

Pelham Veterans Day Ceremonies

I am honored to share with you this invitation to participate in the joint Pelham Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion ceremonies for Veterans Day. It will be held at 9:00 am at Veterans Park and again at 11:00 am at the flagpole at Gibson Cemetery. Immediately after, there will be a light lunch served at the Pelham Post 10722 VFW.

Community Announcements

One exciting community project is the Scouting for Food Drive. It starts on 11/7 with Scouts distributing door tags to houses in their neighborhoods. They then pick up the food from the houses on 11/14.  On 11/14 the Scouts will be in Hannaford Plaza from 8:00am to 4:00pm to collect food and donations.  Everything collected stays in Pelham and benefits the Pelham Food Pantry. Here are some other announcements.
