Weather Related Closing Guidelines
While we all hope for a mild winter, as residents of the Chicagoland area, we know that we might not be so lucky. To read the full letter, click here.

Prospect Heights 23 will follow these general guidelines when closing schools for winter-related closings:

* Schools will be closed if there is a forecasted sustained wind chill of -30 degrees Fahrenheit or colder, or when the actual temperature is a sustained -15 degrees Fahrenheit or colder between the travel times of 5:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and/or 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. The District will use forecasts provided by the National Weather Service.

*For snow, ice, or other weather-related closings, the District will monitor the current conditions, the forecasted conditions between the travel times listed above, the ability of our staff to plow parking lots and sidewalks, as well as the ability of local municipalities to plow and make streets passable. The District will also be in contact with our transportation company to assess their ability to safely run buses. Lastly, we will consult with our neighboring districts and local police departments.

American Education Week 2017
November 13-17 has been designated as American Education week.   Public education is a fundamental component of our American identity as it reflects the critical roles equality, access, and community play in our society. As educators, we carry the torch for an informed and skilled citizenry and dedicate our professional lives to supporting and enhancing the growth and development of children into caring, capable and creative adults.
We thank all of our educators for their commitment to their professional craft, reflective practice, innovation, and most importantly, to the students of District 23! We also thank all who support public education, volunteer their time and talents, and work as partners with us to make District 23 an asset to this community.
