District 23 Achieves Financial Recognition at the State Level
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has placed Prospect Heights SD 23 on its "Financial Recognition" list. ISBE rates school districts on their fund balance and expenditure-to-revenue ratios, days of cash on hand, and percentage of remaining short- and long-term borrowing ability. Of Illinois' 857 school districts, 568, or 66 percent, earned the state's "Financial Recognition" designation, suggesting they are fiscally sound.  
Planned Leadership Transitions: Congratulations Dr. Wilson and Dr. Angelaccio!
District 23 announced their planned leadership transitions at the school board meeting on Nov. 9. The Board of Education accepted Dr. Deb Wilson’s retirement letter effective June 30, 2017 and named Dr. Don Angelaccio, the current Assistant Superintendent, as the new superintendent effective July 1, 2017. 
Congratulations Mr. Lee!
Mr. Steve Lee, MacArthur Principal, announced his retirement effective June 30, 2017. We congratulate him on an outstanding career and thank him for his years of leadership and service to District 23 and MacArthur. 
School Board Elections
Information regarding filing papers for the school board election that will be held on April 4, 2017 can be found in the 2017 Candidates Guide. District 23 will have three, four year terms and one, two year unexpired term on the ballot.

D23 uses impact fees for updating Eisenhower School Playground!! 
Guides for PARCC Scores
Students in grades 3-8 participated in the statewide PARCC exams last Spring. Score reports were sent home last week. State Superintendent Tony Smith shared this letter with families.  
Ten Year Life Safety Survey Underway
It is mandated in Illinois that every 10 years schools perform a life-safety survey on their buildings. Illinois has a standard protocol developed by the state board of education that school districts follow. Arcon, the District's new architect, is currently in the process of conducting the 10 Year Life Safety Survey.
