Connecting to your server folder |
Every teacher and student has a folder on one of the district's fileservers. The two main reasons for this being:
1. To provide a central point of storage so a document can be worked on regardless of what computer you are using.
2. As a way to backup your essential files to ensure their safety in the event your computer crashes.
Below is an explanation of how to connect to your server folder. |
| |
First click the "Go" menu at the top of the screen, then click "Connect to Server" |
In the server address field type the name of your building's fileserver.
MacArthur, Sullivan, & Ross = stafffileserver
Sullivan and Ross students only = srfileserver
Eisenhower (both students and staff) = ikefileserver
| Then click Connect |
Type your user name and password
into the window and click Connect. Just as your email address, your user name consists of the first initial of your first name followed by your last name.
You can also check the box "Remember password in keychain" so it fills in automatically the next time you connect. |
| |
The next window lists all the shared folders on the server. Double click on your user name to access your folder. |
| You can also access other server folders from here such as "Staff Shared" which all teachers may use to share files. |
You can now drag files/folders to and from your server folder by using the server's icon on your desktop.
When you are finished with the server, you can drag the icon to the trash to disconnect. |
