Work Policy
Each child has a multiple pocket, expandable folder to monitor their daily assignments.
Late work and missing assignments will result in the loss of recess, or a deduction in their grade.

Make-up Work
Work can possibly be sent home with siblings or neighbors, upon request, on days when your child is ill.
Not all that we do in class will need to be made up when your child is absent.
It may be possible to prepare assignments in advance for children going on vacation during the school year.  Work that can be done on vacation includes reading and keeping a journal.

Homework

Each child has a home folder that has been clearly marked.  They will keep any notes and homework for the day in this folder.  This should be shared nightly.  In addition to the home folder, each child has their own assignment notebook.

There will be homework on a daily basis.  Homework may consist of:

Math Study Links
Weekly Math Practice (WMP)
Reading (20 minutes each night)
DG/DA (Daily Geography/Daily Analogy)
Practicing Spelling Words and Spelling Pages
Practicing Cursive
Time for Kids
Finishing Daily Assignments from Class (i.e. writing)

The purpose of homework is to increase accuracy, fluency, and if appropriate, speed, to prepare for new learning or to elaborate and increase understanding, and to reinforce skills.

There will be special projects to complete at home throughout the year.  Look for information in the Monday Folder.

Please help your child find a quiet place and a regular time in which to complete their homework.

Consequences for not completing homework on time may include missing lunch recess.
