  • Bowling Club
  • Bowling Club is an intramural activity and is open to any Mac Arthur student in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. Teams form from late November to winter break and students form teams of three or four members. Bowling club currently meets after school at a local bowling alley on Thursdays for five weeks from mid-January to mid-February. There is a minimal charge at the beginning of the season to cover the five weeks of bowling, shoe rental and the final pizza party.

  • Tennis Club
  • Tennis Club is open to all students with an interest for practicing tennis skills and competing in a friendly environment. Members will need to attend on a regular basis and act appropriately. Practices will be held, weather permitting, at The Gary Morava Courts at Lions Park after school. Students must provide their own transportation.

  • Fitness Club
  • Interested in looking good and feeling great? Come join the Fitness Club. This is a club for boys and girls who would like to get some exercise, learn new things, and have fun! Participants will be involved in activities such as kickboxing, aerobics, jogging and weight training.

  • Yearbook
  • This activity is offered to students interested in any or all facets of compiling a yearly MacArthur book for publication. Meetings are usually held after school on Wednesdays, with work parceled out based on demand and deadline dates for production.

  • Student Senate
  • Any student can become a member of Student Senate by attending meetings regularly. Students will be asked to serve on committees in order to accomplish certain school related tasks. Committees meet after school to accomplish their goals.

  • Pom Pon Squad
  • This activity is offered to all girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Students will receive one week of instruction and rehearsals and then are required to tryout before a panel of judges. Approximately 40 girls are selected, although the size of the two squads is determined each year. The girls perform at assemblies and at home basketball games

  • Newspaper
  • The newspaper staff is selected in the early fall from 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The selection of staff is based on the submission of sample articles. Editors are chosen by the supervisor from upper class men. The staff is involved in all phases of producing a MacArthur paper, The General, four or five times a year. Keyboarding or typing skills are necessary. Meetings are generally before or after school.

  • Advanced Sewing Club
  • Advanced Sewing Club is open to seventh and eighth grade students. Students select their own projects and purchase their own supplies. This club is for students with an interest and knowledge of sewing.

  • Video Club
  • This group teaches students the use of video equipment and serves as a resource to tape special events at MacArthur. It is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, but is limited in size, to about twelve. Selection is made by the supervisor based on interest and responsible behavior. Students must maintain appropriate grades to stay in the club. They operate year long and meet as needed.

  • Computer Club
  • Computer Club has evolved into two components, Computer Helpers and Open Computer Lab. Computer Helpers assist others before school. Students interested in becoming a helper must fill out an application and be recommended by teachers. They can not receive D's or F's or check marks on their report cards. Open Lab is for any student interested in improving computer skills or in completing academic assignments on most Wednesday mornings before school.

  • Musical Production
  • The musical is an annual activity, also depending on teacher sponsorship. Students may participate in the production as performers or behind the scenes. Actual parts on stage or in the accompanying band are competitive and selective. The dates of the musical are set by the sponsors. Rehearsals are usually daily, particularly as the opening date approaches.

  • Recital Night
  • Each year, usually in late February, students from the various music programs are asked to perform in an evening recital. The selections are generally made by the directors, from students, who received "firsts" in Solo-Ensemble Contest. This gives these outstanding performers an opportunity to showcase their talents for their families.

  • Art Club
  • This club is open to all students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. It meets after school on most Wednesdays and gives students an opportunity to use different art mediums in a creative atmosphere.

  • Creativity Club
