Parent Access to Student Grades - Information and Use of PowerSchool

PowerSchool will enable you to check your child's grades, attendance and classroom work through the Internet. Teachers will update the information at least once a week (Thursday nights) so that that information is available for the weekend and the following week. Tests, reports and projects turned into the teacher at the end of each week may not show up on Power School until the following week. This allows teachers time to assess the work and input grades.

Logging onto PowerSchool - The PowerSchool web site can be accessed directly at http://powerschool.d23.org or through a link on the MacArthur web site. Parent access will require a username and password that was previously mailed home.

The user first and last name is separated by a period (.) and is not case sensitive.

The password is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as in the letter you received.

If by chance you forget the user name and/or password or lost the information, you will be required to come into the school to get a new user name and/or password. This information will not be given over the phone or by e-mail.

Grades and Attendance Screen

Once in the site the Grades and Attendance screen will appear. Any item that is highlighted in BLUE can be opened by clicking on it.

By clicking on the blue highlighted teachers name, you can send an e-mail directly to that teacher.

By clicking on the blue highlighted grade, you can view the "class score detail" reflecting how that grade was determined.

Class Score Detail Screen

The Class Score Detail screen is a break down of all grades whether it is homework, a lab, quiz, test or project. This screen is a mirror image of the teachers gradebook*.

Any score that is highlighted in blue will indicate that a "score comment" is attached.

*Note: Teachers may have weighted categories that are used to determine final grades (i.e., Homework 20%, Tests 50%, Quizes 30%).

Score Comment Screen
The Score Comment screen will reflect teacher comments on an individual assignment.

Category Description Screen
A category description is accessed by choosing a highlighted category in the Class Score Detail screen. Teachers may define each category and list how each is weighted.
