Power School On-Line Grade Down
Your ability to receive grades on-line is a tremendous way to keep informed of your child’s progress on a weekly and daily basis. However, the system will be down for a couple of days. PowerSchool will be upgraded beginning November 10. The company that services our grade reporting system needs a window of 3 days to upgrade and debug the system. Our hope is that it will be less than the 3 days but not more. Please be patient with us. There will be no access to PowerSchool from Nov. 10-13.
Report Cards and Grades
As November starts to roll in, we start to think about the upcoming holiday seasons, cold, windy sometimes-snowy weather and all those winter type activities we can engage in. It is also the time the first report cards come out. By the time you read this, report cards will have already made it home. Here are some ideas you can share with your child regarding report cards.
Calmly discuss what a report card is and what it is not. What they are not is a judgment on whether your child is good or bad. What they are is a snapshot of how well your child dealt with the material in each subject this grading period.
Ask your child to envision the next report card. Set some goals. How can they meet their goals? Talk about what can be accomplished in the next 9-week period.
Talk about what led to each grade. If the grade was good, what strategies did your child use? If the grade was not so good, what is keeping them from doing better? Set some achievable goals. Even write them down and then refer to them periodically through out the quarter.
Finally, stay in communication with your child’s teacher or team. This can be done in written form, by phone or nowadays by e-mail. There is never “to much” communication.
More Information - Remember to visit our website www.d23.org/macarthur for information regarding Mac news, upcoming dates and announcements. For additional information, please check your child’s backpack for teacher information and handouts each Friday.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s education, the people to contact first would be your child’s teacher/team. They can either answer your questions directly or point you in the right direction. Staff e-mail addresses are posted on the MacArthur web site.
