A book is checked out from our school library for one week usually during scheduled class library periods. The books may be renewed for one additional week. Children should always return overdue books as soon as possible instead of waiting for their next class library time. Students in kindergarten through second grade are not charged fines. Third through fifth grade students are charged a fine of five cents per day for an overdue book. As soon as the book is returned, the fine no longer accumulates, and other books may be checked out. If the fine is not paid promptly, the record is kept until the fine is paid. A maximum fine of $1.00 is charged for each book. There are no fines for weekends, holidays, vacations, or sick days. Your child will need to let us know if fines have been charged for those days so that we can make adjustments. Students receive fine notices each library class period. Any student who has not returned a book one month after the due date will receive a notice showing the replacement cost of the book. If we still do not receive the book or money, you will be notified by mail. In the event that a book is paid for and later found, you may return the book and receive a refund. Please check with you child or your child's teacher to find out which day their class goes to the library to help you assist your child in the prompt returning of books.
Thank you for your cooperation in teaching responsibility to the children at Eisenhower School.
