Monarch Nominees 2008

This is the third year for the Monarch Award Program.  This award is designed to encourage Illinois children to read critically and to become familiar with children's books, authors, and illustrators.  It was named for the Monarch Butterfly and symbolizes the growth, change, and freedom that characterizes the emergent reader.  The award will be given annually to an author and/or illustrator of a book voted as their favorite by participating K-3 children in Illinois.

A committee has selected the 20 nominations for the year.  In order to vote, a child must read or hear at least 5 of the books.
