Transparency

Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for residents about the activities of Prospect Heights School District 23 (D23). Transparency enhances D23’s effectiveness and improves the quality of its decisions.
The District strives to provide comprehensive financial and accountability information that is easy to locate, access, and understand.
 
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides the public the right to request access to records from any federal agency.
It is the policy of the Board of Education of Prospect Heights School District 23 to make its public records available for inspection during normal business hours Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Records may be inspected and copied at the Grodsky Administration Center, 700 North Schoenbeck Road, Prospect Heights, Illinois.

All requests for records should be addressed to the Chief FOIA Officer as follows:

For black and white copies, the district will provide the first 50 pages on letter or legal sized copies at no charge. Additional copies will be provided for a fee of 15 cents per page.

For color copies or copies on paper sizes other than letter or legal size, the district will charge a fee to cover the actual cost for reproducing the records.

For copies in electronic format, the actual cost for purchasing the recording medium will be charged.

Fees will not include the cost of any search for and review of records or personnel costs associated with finding or reproducing records. Documents shall be furnished without charge or at a reduced charge where the district determines that waiver or reduction is in the public interest.

DISTRICT DESCRIPTION
Prospect Heights School District 23 is an elementary district located in Prospect Heights, Wheeling Township, Cook County, Illinois.

District 23 is organized under the laws of the State of Illinois for the purpose of providing its residents with school for kindergarten through eighth grade for education of all eligible children residing in the district.

District 23 is accountable to the U.S. Department of Education, the Illinois State Board of Education and the taxpayers of Prospect Heights, Wheeling, Arlington Heights and Mount prospect.

District 23 is governed by a seven-member Board of Education. The School Board’s office is located at 700 North Schoenbeck Road, Prospect Heights, Illinois 60070.
